Jessica's Portrait Shoot

What a lovely day Tuesday was for a portrait shoot. We set off from Ingleby Barwick with a temperature reading of 16c without a cloud in the sky. Hardwick Park was the location and we met up there with Jess and mum Jacqui in her pink mini convertible, oh and two dogs and bags of shoes and outfits too. We love enthusiasm.

This was actually one of the last images from the shoot. The sky had become slightly overcast which really helped soften the light for the casual pose. We started of with some easy shots around the ruins, in an attempt to find some shade as the sun was pretty intense.

You can't beat a good rustic brick wall shot with sharp focus on the eyes. I asked Jess to look slightly away on this one to add a bit more mystery to the image.

Again a nice easy pose using the old bricks to frame Jess nicely. After the ruins section it was time for an outfit change and down to the lake we went. By the time we reached the water front the temperature had reached 19c. It was actually T-shirt weather.

Here's Jess in Hip Hop style. Boy it was nice and warm down near the water. I took this image from 69meters away with a long lens to enhance the twinkling of the water. I couldn't even see Jessica's face with my naked eye from that far. I was laid down on the gravel path like a snake to achieve this perspective, the things you do for the love of photography ;-)

This image was taken near the end of our shoot, as you can see its quite tiring work being a model! The background was a bit messy here plus some work was being done on an old building to the left and was fenced in. So I used my lens wide open at 2.8 to knock the background out of focus as much as possible.

This was the last image from the day and links us back to the first image of the post. There are more shots for me still to edit so keep checking back for updates. Plus I'll be posting a couple of these on my website http://www.kenhillsphotography.co.uk/ in the Urban Portrait Gallery. Anyway a great day was had by all and Jess is really keen for another shoot! I reckon some really gritty urban images are in order on the next session, keep em peeled! Ken.

Steetley Revist

F2.8  1/125th  iso 200

I was looking through some shots of a recent photo shoot at Steetley Hartlepool and stumbled upon a couple more great images. They were taken on the 22nd Jan and it was a freezing afternoon! Lets just say numb fingers all round, it was a relief to return to the car for some welcome heat! So hats off to Vicki and Martin ( or hats on in this case lol ) for braving the weather on this shoot.

I kept the set up for these shots simple in order to work quickly as the cold was getting to us pretty quick. I shot every image in manual wide open and adjusted the shutter to give me the ambient light for the background, then illuminated Vicki and Martin with off camera flash. Now the weather is picking up a return visit to Steetley may be in order for another urban photo shoot. Tomorrow I'm off on a shoot with Vicki's sister Jessica, so keep an eye out for some images this week. Bye for now! Ken.

Photo Shoot for Lusso Kitchens

Last weekend I was asked by my brother Clint to photograph his kitchen showroom as he needed some images for his upcoming website. I'll post a link once his site is live. The showroom is named " Lusso Kitchen Design Center." It is located next to the " Portrack Lighting Center " opposite  " At Home, " just off Portrack Lane Stockton.

As you can see Clint's designs are definitely on the trendy side providing the " wow " factor. If anyone is looking for top quality ultra modern or traditional kitchens at very reasonable prices with a great service, then pop in and speak to Clint and Tanya and mention me for special treatment ;-)

I really enjoyed this shoot as it was out of working hours, so the pace was nice and chilled, it made a change from being a Wedding Photographer where the schedule can be relentless at times. Plus it is always good to give your photographic muscles a different kind of work out from time to time. It certainly gets the creative process in your brain working.

Check out the photo of the Infinity Bridge on the wall, I wonder who took that? ;-)

Sometimes laying on the floor can provide a unique angle that you don't see every day.

Couldn't resist a couple of detail shots, its the wedding photographer in me coming out!

All the shots I took will be on Clint's Lusso website once its live, ill post a link to it here and on my facebook page. I'm also going to be adding a commercial/vendor links page on my website http://www.kenhillsphotography.co.uk/ so there will be more details on there too, stay tuned!
Next Tuesday I'm shooting an Urban Portrait session for the lovely Jessica, so keep an eye out for some images from that next week. See ya' then. Ken.
